How to choose which events to attend

Nutrition events fall into four groups, and the right mix depends on your role.

Dietetics congresses

Organised by dietetic associations for practitioners: clinical updates, practice standards, continuing education credits and networking. The largest international one is the International Congress of Nutrition and Dietetics, organised under the International Confederation of Dietetic Associations; the 20th congress will be in Dublin from 15 to 19 August 2028, hosted by the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute^[1]. National examples include the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo (FNCE) in the United States, Dietitians Australia's national conference (Sydney, 13 to 15 August 2027)^[2] and the British Dietetic Association's events, including its research symposium in Birmingham on 2 December 2026^[3].

Nutrition science and clinical nutrition meetings

For researchers and clinicians who want the newest evidence. The American Society for Nutrition's NUTRITION meeting is held in Las Vegas from 26 to 29 July 2027 and in Boston from 10 to 13 June 2028^[4]. The European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism's annual ESPEN Congress is the leading clinical nutrition meeting in Europe; the 48th congress was held in Berlin in September 2026 and the 2027 congress is in Istanbul^[5].

Obesity conferences

ObesityWeek, organised by The Obesity Society, is held from 14 to 17 November 2026 at the Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor, Maryland^[6]. The European Congress on Obesity took place in Istanbul from 12 to 15 May 2026^[7]. These meetings are essential for anyone working in medical weight management.

• Natural Products Expo West, Anaheim: 2 to 5 March 2027, exhibit halls 3 to 5 March^[9].
• Vitafoods Europe, Fira Barcelona Gran Via: 18 to 20 May 2027^[10].
• Vitafoods Asia: held in Bangkok in September 2026 and moving to MITEC, Kuala Lumpur, from 21 to 23 September 2027^[11].
• Fi Europe, Messe Frankfurt: 17 to 19 November 2026^[12].
• Hi & Fi Asia-China, Shanghai: 22 to 24 June 2027^[13].
• Fi India, Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre: 29 September to 1 October 2027^[14].
• Gulfood, Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai Exhibition Centre: 15 to 19 March 2027^[15].
• FHA-Food & Beverage, Singapore EXPO: 20 to 23 April 2027^[16].

Getting the most from a trade show

1. Book meetings in advance. Exhibitors' calendars fill weeks before the show. Use the organiser's matchmaking tool.
2. Go with a list of questions. For manufacturers: certifications, minimum order quantities, lead times, testing. For distributors: channels, registration support, exclusivity. Our supplier guide has full checklists.
3. Attend the education sessions. Regulatory updates and market data sessions are often the most valuable part of the show.
4. Follow up within a week. Send notes, specifications and next steps while the conversation is fresh.

Getting the most from a dietetics congress

1. Plan your continuing education. Choose sessions that fill gaps in your professional development plan and keep certificates.
2. Present your work. Abstract deadlines are usually six to nine months before the congress.
3. Join specialist group meetings. They are the fastest way to build a network in your field.
4. Visit the exhibition. Clinical nutrition and food companies show new products and evidence.
